Maria Meisien Kang has been in the wellness industry for over 25 years.
Starting at 16 she began teaching aerobics classes, became a personal trainer at 20 and went on to become a
fitness manager, nonprofit founder of Fitness without Borders and author of her first book, The No More Excuses Diet.
Years ago, after giving birth to three kids in three years, she began the effort to meditate.
"I couldn't close my eyes and stop thinking for longer than a minute and even that felt
long!" She recalls.
These days, she focuses on breathing and meditative practices to calm her anxiety, reduce
her stress and enhance her well being as she moves throughout her day as a busy business
owner and mother to teenage sons.
"I dedicated most of my life to helping people get healthier. Truth is, it's not a pill, a person or a program
that will help you - the solution is finding the root to your being. You need to go back to your essence and who you are. You can't fix how you do something until you understand why you do it. Through
a combination of breathwork and meditation, you discover your deepest part of yourself. It
is only through stillness, when we re-engage and feel connected to source again."
